Lesson 03.9

Event-driven architecture

In an event-driven architecture, services announce what happened as events and others react independently, instead of calling each other in a chain and waiting.

Walk it round, or pin a note?

When Mia orders a toy robot, three things must happen: the till takes the money, the stockroom packs it, and Ben sends it out. Ava can walk the order round to each of them and wait, or pin a note on the board for everyone to read.

Today the stockroom closes for a while. What changes?

In this lesson you'll

  1. 1Watch Ava walk the order round while the stockroom is closed.
  2. 2Guess what happens with a note on the board.
  3. 3Find the way that never sends anything too soon.
