Lesson 08.7
Timeouts, deadline budgets & retry storms
A retry storm occurs when many callers retry a slow or failing dependency, multiplying load; propagated deadlines and shared attempt budgets stop work that can no longer help.
Three services each retry a slow inventory call
Ava's checkout asks another computer, which asks another. If each tries three times, one order creates twenty-seven last-step calls.
In this lesson you'll
- 1Follow one run and learn how to read the picture
- 2Predict what changes before revealing the result
- 3Compare the controls and keep the computer inside its safe line during the rush
