Lesson 01.1

Load balancing (L4 vs L7)

Load balancing shares traffic among servers. Layer 4 selects a backend for a connection, while Layer 7 can inspect HTTP requests and route them to the appropriate service.

Two jobs, one front door

Ava checks how many cookies are left. Ben looks up cookie orders. The shop has different computers for those jobs, but sending requests to each computer in turn can send them to the wrong place.
