Lesson 01.4

Service discovery

Service discovery maps a service name to available instance addresses, letting clients or proxies find ready servers as instances start, stop, and move.

Listed does not mean ready

Ben starts another computer for the cookie shop. Its address appears on the list before it has loaded the cookie numbers. Ava can find it, but it cannot answer her yet.

In this lesson you'll

  1. 1Follow one run and learn how to read the picture
  2. 2Predict what changes before revealing the result
  3. 3Make startup take longer without sending work to an unready computer
